Crispy Chocolate Orange Cake
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
-
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
-
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract and orange zest.
-
Gradually mix in the dry ingredients alternately with the orange juice and sour cream. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
-
Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
-
In a small saucepan, heat the whipping cream until it begins to simmer. Remove from heat and add the dark chocolate. Stir until smooth and let it cool for 10 minutes.
-
Pour the chocolate ganache over the cooled cake, allowing it to drip down the sides. Decorate with orange slices, if desired.
-
Let the cake rest for 30 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
