Cream Pie
Cream pies have been enjoyed since the Middle Ages and were often served at royal banquets.
This is vegetarian recipe. Dish can be prepared in 110 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 8.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Roll out the pie crust and place it in a pie dish.

In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it starts to simmer.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, cornstarch, and salt.

Gradually whisk the sugar mixture into the simmering cream.

Continue cooking and whisking until the mixture thickens.

In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks.

Gradually whisk a small amount of the hot cream mixture into the egg yolks to temper them.

Pour the tempered egg yolks back into the saucepan and continue cooking, whisking constantly, until the mixture thickens further.

Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and butter until melted.

Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the filling is set.

Allow the pie to cool for at least 1 hour before serving.
