Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine cranberries, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract. Gradually add the flour mixture, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. While the cake is baking, prepare the butter sauce. In a small saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Stir in powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and heavy cream. Cook until the sugar is dissolved and the sauce is smooth.
  6. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Drizzle the butter sauce over the cooled cake. Serve and enjoy!
