Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and melted butter. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the chopped jalapeno peppers and shredded cheddar cheese. Spoon the batter into greased muffin cups, filling each about 2/3 full. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the muffins to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy!
