  5. In a large bowl, mix the flaked codfish, mashed potatoes, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, beaten egg, bread crumbs, salt, and black pepper.
  6. Shape the mixture into small patties.
  7. Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  8. Fry the codfish cakes until golden brown on both sides.
  9. Remove from the pan and let them rest for 10 minutes before serving.
