  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the pie crust, shredded coconut, and melted butter. Press the mixture into a 9-inch pie dish.
  3. Bake the crust for 10 minutes, then set aside to cool.
  4. In a saucepan, whisk together the cornstarch, sugar, and salt. Gradually whisk in the milk and coconut milk.
  5. Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks. Gradually temper the yolks by adding a small amount of the hot milk mixture and whisking constantly.
  7. Pour the tempered yolks into the saucepan and continue cooking until the mixture reaches a pudding-like consistency.
  8. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the butter and vanilla extract.
  9. Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust and refrigerate for at least 3 hours.
  10. Before serving, garnish with whipped cream and toasted coconut flakes.
