Shepherd’s Pie is traditionally made with lamb, but when made with beef, it is technically called Cottage Pie.
This is high protein and non vegetarian recipe. Dish can be prepared in 80 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 14.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Remove and set aside.

In the same skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter and sauté the onion, carrot, and garlic until softened.

Add the cooked ground beef back to the skillet. Stir in the tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, beef broth, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.

Stir in the frozen peas and transfer the mixture to a baking dish.

In a separate bowl, mix the mashed potatoes with milk and 1 tablespoon of butter. Season with salt and black pepper.

Spread the mashed potatoes over the meat mixture, smoothing it out with a spatula.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the mashed potatoes are golden and the filling is bubbling.

Allow the Shepherd's Pie to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
