Ingredients
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
-
Cut the cold butter into small cubes and add it to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract.
-
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
-
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times to bring it together.
-
Pat the dough into a circle about 1 inch (5 cm) thick. Use a round biscuit cutter to cut out scones from the dough. Place the scones onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
-
Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown.
-
Remove from the oven and let the scones cool on a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.
