  • 1.5 cup Cake Flour
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 cup Unsweetened Applesauce
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 0.5 cup Almond Milk
  • 0.5 teaspoon Cream of Tartar
  • 0.5 cup Powdered Sugar
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease and flour a chiffon cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the cake flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the unsweetened applesauce, vanilla extract, and almond milk. Mix well.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, whisking until smooth.
  5. In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff peaks form.
  6. Gently fold the egg whites into the batter until fully incorporated.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
  10. Carefully invert the cake onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
