Ingredients
  • 2 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 2 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup Hot water
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoon Milk
  • as needed for garnish Chocolate sprinkles
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix until just combined.
  5. Stir in the hot water until the batter is smooth.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Smooth the tops with a spatula.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk to make the glaze.
  10. Place one cake layer on a serving plate and drizzle with half of the glaze. Place the second cake layer on top and drizzle with the remaining glaze.
  11. Garnish with chocolate sprinkles, if desired.
  12. Serve and enjoy!
