  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Mix in the mashed bananas. Gradually add the flour mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. In a chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add the powdered sugar and ground cinnamon, continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.
  8. Once the cake has cooled, spread the whipped cream over the top. Sprinkle with additional ground cinnamon if desired.
