  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease and line a round cake tin.
  2. Melt the dark chocolate and butter together in a heatproof bowl over simmering water. Stir until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together sugar and eggs until pale and fluffy.
  4. Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, stirring well.
  5. Sift in the flour and cocoa powder, and fold gently until combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake tin and bake for 35-40 minutes.
  7. Remove from the oven and let it cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. In a separate bowl, whip the whipping cream with vanilla extract and icing sugar until soft peaks form.
  9. Once the cake has cooled, spread the whipped cream over the top and sides.
  10. Decorate with fresh berries, if desired.
  11. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
  12. Slice and enjoy!
