Stir in milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.

Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.

In a separate bowl, mix together brown sugar and cocoa powder. Sprinkle this mixture over the batter.

Pour boiling water over the top, but do not stir.

Bake for 30 minutes, or until the cake is set and the pudding layer is bubbling.
