  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with buttermilk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of batter onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the tops spring back when lightly touched.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool completely on a wire rack.
  9. In a small bowl, mix together the peanut butter, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  10. Spread a dollop of the peanut butter filling onto the flat side of half of the cookies.
