Chocolate Fudge Layer Cake
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
-
Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix well until smooth.
-
Stir in the boiling water to thin the batter. The batter will be thin, but that's okay.
-
Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
-
Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
-
Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
-
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Stir in the powdered sugar and chocolate until smooth.
-
Spread the chocolate fudge frosting over one cake layer. Place the second cake layer on top and frost the entire cake with the remaining frosting.
-
Let the cake rest for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to develop.
-
Slice and serve the delicious chocolate fudge layer cake!
