  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the chocolate cookie crust and melted butter. Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish. Bake for 10 minutes, then remove from the oven and let cool.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the semi-sweet chocolate over low heat.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the cornstarch, sugar, and salt.
  5. Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth.
  6. In a medium saucepan, heat the milk mixture over medium heat until thickened.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk the egg yolks. Gradually whisk in 1 cup of the hot milk mixture.
  8. Pour the egg mixture back into the saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  9. Remove from heat and stir in the melted chocolate and vanilla extract.
  10. Pour the chocolate filling into the cooled crust and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until set.
  11. Before serving, top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
