  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a round cake pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and water. Mix well until smooth.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  4. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool completely.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy.
  6. Once the cake has cooled, slice it in half horizontally.
  7. Spread a layer of the mascarpone mixture on the bottom half of the cake.
  8. Top with fresh mixed berries.
  9. Place the top half of the cake on the berries.
  10. Spread the remaining mascarpone mixture on top of the cake.
  11. Garnish with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
  12. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
