  • 2 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup Cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Applesauce
  • 1/2 cup Sour cream
  • 1/2 cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Mix in the applesauce and sour cream. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Once the cake is cooled, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
