  3. Gradually add sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time, beating well after each addition. Continue beating until stiff peaks form.
  4. Sift together the cake flour and cocoa powder. Gently fold into the egg white mixture.
  5. Fold in vanilla extract and chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 40 minutes or until the cake springs back when lightly touched.
  8. Invert the pan onto a wire rack and let the cake cool completely in the pan.
  9. Once cooled, run a knife around the edges of the pan to loosen the cake. Remove from the pan and serve.
