Marble cake gets its name from the marbled pattern created by combining two different colored batters.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch (23cm) round cake pan.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually mix in the mashed bananas.

Add the flour mixture to the banana mixture and mix until just combined.

Divide the batter in half. In one half, mix in the cocoa powder and milk.

Alternately spoon the vanilla and chocolate batters into the prepared cake pan. Use a knife to gently swirl the batters together to create a marbled effect.

Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
