Ingredients
  • 2 cup All-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoon Granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter (cold)
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup Fresh cherries (pitted and halved)
  • 1 unit Egg (beaten, for brushing)
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and vanilla extract. Gradually add the milk mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  3. Gently fold in the fresh cherries. Be careful not to overmix.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it a few times until it comes together. Pat the dough into a circle about 1-inch thick.
  5. Cut the dough into 8 wedges and transfer them to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Brush the scones with beaten egg.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown.
  8. Allow the scones to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
