Ingredients
  • 2 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter, cold
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Canned cherry pie filling
  • 1/4 cup Brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup Chopped walnuts
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch square baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and vanilla extract. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  4. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan. Spoon the cherry pie filling over the batter.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped walnuts. Sprinkle this crumb mixture over the cherry pie filling.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
