  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut the butter into small cubes and add it to the flour mixture. Use your hands or a pastry cutter to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the grated cheddar cheese.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and egg. Pour the milk mixture into the flour mixture and stir until just combined.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it a few times to bring it together. Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick circle.
  7. Use a round biscuit cutter to cut out scones from the dough. Place the scones onto the prepared baking sheet.
