Carrot-Apple Spice Cake with Browned-Butter Glaze
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
-
In a large bowl, combine the grated carrots, grated apples, flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
-
In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
-
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
-
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
-
While the cake is baking, prepare the browned-butter glaze. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Cook until the butter turns a golden brown color and has a nutty aroma, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the powdered sugar until smooth.
-
Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.
-
Drizzle the browned-butter glaze over the cooled cake. Serve and enjoy!
