Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a food processor, crush the pie crust until fine crumbs form. Press the crumbs into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch (23 cm) pie dish.
  3. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the sugar and stir until dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  4. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs until light and fluffy. Slowly pour the cooled butter mixture into the eggs, whisking constantly.
  5. In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the chocolate in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval, until melted and smooth. Add the melted chocolate and vanilla extract to the egg mixture, whisking until well combined.
  6. Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust. Smooth the top with a spatula.
  7. Bake for 10 minutes, then reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (165°C) and continue baking for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center is still slightly jiggly.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack for 1 hour.
  9. Transfer the pie to the refrigerator and let chill for at least 3 hours, or overnight.
  10. Before serving, top with whipped cream, drizzle with caramel sauce, and sprinkle with pecans.
  11. Enjoy!
