  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan in the shape of a maple leaf.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Stir in the maple syrup.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. In a blender, puree the raspberries until smooth. Strain the puree through a fine mesh sieve to remove the seeds.
