Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line a cake tin.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

Sift in the flour and baking powder, then add the lemon zest, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.

Stir in the milk to achieve a smooth batter.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake tin and smooth the top.

Bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
