Butter Cake with Bananas Foster Sauce
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
-
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
-
In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk.
-
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
-
While the cake is baking, prepare the bananas foster sauce. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar, rum, and cinnamon. Cook until the sugar has dissolved and the sauce has thickened slightly, about 5 minutes.
-
Slice the ripe bananas and add them to the skillet. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the bananas are softened.
-
Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.
-
Serve the butter cake with the bananas foster sauce drizzled on top. Enjoy!
