Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk.

Stir in the almond extract.

Pour the batter into a greased and floured loaf pan. Sprinkle the sliced almonds on top.
