  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Ripe bananas, mashed
  • 3/4 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter, melted and browned
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup Sour cream
  • For Streusel Topping:
  • 1/2 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup Brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup Chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • For Browned Butter Glaze:
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted butter
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoon Milk or cream
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the mashed bananas, sugar, melted and browned butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and sour cream. Mix well.
  4. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the banana mixture until just combined.
  5. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared cake pan.
  6. In a small bowl, combine the streusel topping ingredients: flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, melted butter, and chopped nuts (if using). Mix until crumbly.
  7. Sprinkle the streusel topping over the cake batter.
  8. Bake for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter for the glaze over medium-low heat. Cook until the butter turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma.
  11. Remove the melted butter from the heat and whisk in the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk or cream.
  12. Drizzle the browned butter glaze over the cooled cake.
  13. Serve and enjoy!
