Breakfast Kolaches

Kolaches originated in the Czech Republic and were brought to the United States by Czech immigrants. They have become a popular breakfast pastry in many parts of the country.
This is vegetarian recipe. Dish can be prepared in 75 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 10.

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.

Heat the milk and butter in a saucepan until the butter melts. Let it cool slightly.

Add the milk mixture and eggs to the flour mixture. Stir until a soft dough forms.

Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces.

Flatten each piece into a circle and place a sausage link, cheese, and jalapeno slice in the center.

Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal.

Place the kolaches on a greased baking sheet and let them rise for 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the kolaches for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown.
