Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9-inch springform pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and granulated sugar until creamy. Add sour cream, eggs, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the cream cheese mixture and mix until well combined.
  4. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the surface.
  5. Peel, core, and slice the apples. Toss the sliced apples with lemon juice.
  6. In a skillet, melt the unsalted butter. Add brown sugar, cinnamon, and brandy. Stir until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is bubbly.
  7. Add the sliced apples to the skillet and cook until tender. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  8. Arrange the cooked apples on top of the batter in the pan. Sprinkle with chopped walnuts.
  9. Pour the remaining batter over the apples and walnuts. Smooth the surface.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until the cake is set and golden brown.
  11. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then remove the sides of the springform pan and let the cake cool completely on a wire rack.
  12. Once cooled, dust the top of the cake with powdered sugar.
  13. Slice and serve.
