  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients alternating with the milk.
  4. Divide the batter evenly into separate bowls and add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl. Stir until the colors are well combined.
  5. Spoon dollops of each colored batter into the prepared cake pans, creating a marbled effect. Use a toothpick or skewer to swirl the colors together for a butterfly pattern.
