  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch (23 cm) round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract and dark rum.
  6. Gradually add the mashed bananas to the butter mixture, mixing well.
  7. Alternately add the flour mixture and milk to the banana mixture, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  9. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
  11. Transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.
  12. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and lemon juice until smooth.
  13. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cake.
