Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

In a medium bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In a large mixing bowl, cream the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the mashed bananas and vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, alternating with sour cream. Fold in the chopped walnuts.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
