  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, mash the bananas until smooth. Set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Add the mashed bananas to the butter mixture and mix well. Gradually add the dry ingredients, alternating with the sour cream, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. For the frosting, melt the dark chocolate and butter in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of simmering water. Remove from heat and stir in the powdered sugar, salt, and heavy cream until smooth.
  9. Once the cake has cooled, spread the frosting evenly over the top and sides of the cake.
  10. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the frosting and sprinkle with sea salt flakes.
