  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients alternately with the buttermilk.
  6. Fold in the mashed bananas and Baileys Irish Cream.
  7. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. In the meantime, prepare the Baileys Swiss Meringue Buttercream.
  11. In a heatproof bowl, whisk together the egg whites and sugar.
  12. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water and heat, whisking constantly, until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture reaches 160°F (71°C).
  13. Remove from heat and transfer the mixture to a stand mixer fitted with a whisk attachment.
  14. Beat on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form and the mixture has cooled to room temperature.
  15. Gradually add the butter, a few tablespoons at a time, beating well after each addition.
  16. Once all the butter has been incorporated, beat in the Baileys Irish Cream.
  17. To assemble the cake, place one layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of Baileys Swiss Meringue Buttercream on top.
  18. Place the second layer on top and frost the entire cake with the remaining Baileys Swiss Meringue Buttercream.
