Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.

In a medium bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with the mashed bananas and sour cream. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.

Bake for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
