  2. Arrange the pineapple rings on the bottom of the pan and place a maraschino cherry in the center of each ring.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In a separate bowl, cream the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix in the flour mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
  6. Pour the batter over the pineapple rings in the cake pan.
