Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, milk, egg, and vanilla extract.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

Spread half of the batter into the prepared cake pan.

Arrange the sliced apricots on top of the batter.

In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle half of the mixture over the apricots.

Spoon the remaining batter over the apricots and sprinkle with the remaining brown sugar mixture.

Top with sliced almonds.

Bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
