In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract and apricot brandy.

Spoon the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Place the apricots on top of the batter.
