  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, unsalted butter, salt, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until the dough comes together.
  3. Press two-thirds of the dough into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form the crust.
  4. In another bowl, mix together the sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, and lemon juice until well coated.
  5. Spread the apple mixture evenly over the crust.
  6. Crumble the remaining dough over the apple layer.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 30 minutes.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
  10. Cut into bars and enjoy!
