  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Roll out one pie crust and place it in a pie dish.
  3. Peel, core, and slice the apples.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  5. Add the sliced apples to the bowl and toss until coated.
  6. Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust.
  7. Dot the top of the apples with butter.
  8. Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the filling.
  9. Seal the edges and cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
