  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Roll out half of the pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish.
  3. Peel, core, and slice the apples.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Mix well.
  5. Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust.
  6. Dot the top of the apples with butter.
  7. Roll out the remaining pie crust and place it on top of the apple filling.
  8. Trim and seal the edges of the pie crust.
  9. Cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  10. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  11. Remove from the oven and let the pie cool for at least 1 hour before serving.
