  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).
  2. Roll out one pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  4. Peel, core, and slice the apples. Toss the apple slices with lemon juice.
  5. Add the apple slices to the bowl with the sugar mixture and toss until coated.
  6. Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust.
  7. Cut the butter into small pieces and dot them over the apple filling.
  8. Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the filling.
  9. Trim and seal the edges of the crust, then make several slits on the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
  11. Remove from the oven and let it cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.
