  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk. Fold in the chopped apples and pears.
  5. Spread half of the batter into the prepared cake pan. Sprinkle with half of the brown sugar and chopped walnuts. Repeat with the remaining batter, brown sugar, and walnuts.
  6. Bake for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
