  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a muffin tin or line with paper liners.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Fold in the diced apples.
  5. Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. While the muffins are baking, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar and cook until dissolved. Add the heavy cream and vanilla extract, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat.
  8. Once the muffins are done, let them cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Serve the muffins with the warm sauce drizzled on top.
