  1. Peel, core, and chop the apples.
  2. In a bowl, mix the chopped apples, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and lemon juice.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt.
  4. Cut in the unsalted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Gradually add cold water, tossing with a fork until a dough forms.
  6. Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and roll each portion into a circle.
  7. Spoon the apple mixture onto one half of each circle.
  8. Fold the dough over the filling and press the edges to seal.
  9. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  10. Fry the pies for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
  11. Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
  12. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
