Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large bowl, combine the apples, cranberries, currants, lemon juice, lemon zest, nutmeg, and 1/2 cup of granulated sugar. Toss well to coat.

In a separate bowl, mix the flour, remaining 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, and a pinch of salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Gradually add the ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together. Divide the dough in half.

Roll out one half of the dough on a lightly floured surface and transfer it to a 9-inch pie dish. Trim the edges.

Pour the fruit mixture into the pie dish. Roll out the remaining dough and place it on top of the filling. Seal the edges and cut slits in the top crust.

Bake for 45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
