Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour a cake pan.

In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Stir in the vanilla extract.
